1989 Quevedo Colheita (bottled 2025)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

In contrast to poor George, my miniature of 1989 Colheita was rather nice - not a blockbuster, but tasty enough, so I thought I'd post a note to contrast with his.

Quevedo 1989 Colheita, bottled in 9cl in 2025 for the 2025 advent calendar. Decanted off a surprising amount of sediment - clearly bottled unfiltered! Copper-orange colour with a hint of green on the rim. Orange and molasses on the nose with a nice acidity on the palate. Not particularly intense, much more of an elegant style of Colheita with the orange flavours prominent. A distinct hot rubber band tone to the aftertaste quickly fades to leave a lingering and persistent orange and rosemary jelly. Delicate and elegant, but rather tasty. 87/100. I was surprised how much this changed in the glass over the course of an hour.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

2026: DR Very Old White, Graham Stone Terraces 2011, Quevedo Branco 1986 b.2026
