2024 Quinta do Vesuvio

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A walkaround tasting of cask samples at the Montrachet Wines EP tasting of 2025 Bordeaux on 29 April 2026.

Quinta do Vesuvio 2024. Dark purple in colour, opaque with a narrow rim — a complete contrast to the colour of the Fladgate Partnership wines. Concentrated bramble on the nose, a pure expression of the fruit. The density of the ripe fruit on the palate makes up for the slight restraint on the nose. Dense black cherry and very firm tannins on the palate with a sweet black cherry aftertaste and a sticky black fruit finish. Good length. The wine is less characteristic of the Vesúvio style than I was expecting, being much more about the fruit and less the garrigue. 91-93/100.
