1998 Dow Senhora da Ribeira

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Very red, very opaque. Herby nose, mixed with ripe pears but pretty closed. Elegant entry with good balance. Restrained raspberries in the mouth, a light impact but with good grip and plenty of elegant development. Great ripe acidity followed by a big aftertaste, filling the cheeks and tingling the tongue. Very impressive - a heavyweight wine with the nimbleness of a lightweight. 92/100. Drunk 27/11/08 after 1 hour decanting.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

2026: Quinta das Carvalhas 80YO Tawny
