London Colheita tasting - date tbc
London Colheita tasting - date tbc
Jacob and I were caused to discuss the merits of various colheitas over Christmas and have starting talking of the possibility of this as a future theme for a TCPoffline. So we can consider dates, can people let us know of interest.
Thank you.
Thank you.

I apply the following very strict criteria when assessing whether or not I should attend a Port Tasting:
My offering for the line-up will be a Krohn Colheita 1965
Derek
- The principal objective of the tasting must be to drink Port with other like-minded individuals;
- The date of the tasting must be a date that I can be available to attend
- The venue must be in a place that I can be in on the selected date
My offering for the line-up will be a Krohn Colheita 1965

It will not be a blind tasting then!

Given our track record of blind tastings we probably still wouldn't guess what it isbenread wrote:It will not be a blind tasting then!

Re: London Colheita tasting - date tbc
I would be moderately keen for a Friday night where I have little on on the Saturday!so, with regards to dates, the 6th or 20th Feb come to mind. If we’re keeping with the mid-week-drinking theme, some suggestions might be the 10-11 or 24-25 (both February and Tuesdays and Wednesdays) so we could get their cheaper food deal.
Re: London Colheita tasting - date tbc
Friday's in London don't often work for me as I am normally in Scotland for the weekend. My preference is mid-week but at this point I have no plans to be in London in February.

If it were Thursday 5th February, then there would be a good chance that I could attend. Friday 6th I’ll be in Cambridge.

Re: London Colheita tasting - date tbc
As the two former posts appear to be mutually incompatible, how would one offline on the 5ii and another early in the week during March (or when DRT is next planing to be in London) look to others? One could be the London colheita tasting and another a variation on ‟bring a bottle of Port to share” theme, depending the number and preferences of the attendees.
Re: London Colheita tasting - date tbc
If it works for others then please proceed with a tasting on 5th Feb. My schedule may well change between now and then

Regrettably, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays are going to be difficult for me from February. That is when Edward starts at nursery and our domestic arrangements (and work ones) demand that I am responsible for collecting him from nursery on those nights before 6pm - outside the M25! A Tuesday in late February or March would suit much better.
How about Tuesday 17th March - it has some Irish significance I think! If anyone shoud happen to have unexpected time in London before then (
) an emergency tasting can be arranged.
If of course 5th February suits others, please go ahead without me - and report back!

So two people definitely can’t make 5th Feb, and I might be able to. So on that date attendance would be at most two, more likely one, and maybe none.
Let’s try a date other than 5th Feb.

Re: London Colheita tasting - date tbc
I'm interested in trying a few colheitas, having relatively little experience with them. I do know that in my new role I will need to travel in to London once or twice a month, but I don't yet know when I will next be sent in. I probably have most chance of making a London offline towards the end of February and a Tuesday would work for me.
However, if JDAW feels that he needs some company on Feb 5th, he should simply state time, place and theme and see who turns up...

Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Agreed. It is not inconceivable that it may become absolutely necessary for me to be in London on 5th FebAHB wrote:However, if JDAW feels that he needs some company on Feb 5th, he should simply state time, place and theme and see who turns up...

Noted. Let me plan that week and see what dates are available.
