So what do I open next?

I have very little port at home at the moment and need to decide what to open next - and I just can't make up my mind as most of these bottles are the last of that shipper / vintage that I own.

So help me out - what should I open next?

I voted the FG1988 for a number of reasons. Firstly, if it is the last you own this is easily replaceable at reasonable cost. Secondly, it is a nice drinking port now - I know because I enjoyed one with friends to celebrate (commiserate) 20 years of employment on 26th September 2008. We all enoyed it and it was a much heavier weight port than the Quinta da Corte 1987 we had alongside it.

I am sure none will disappoint you, but this is my only experience and one I will happily return to!

Here is raising a toast to you with the last of the F63 sample!

I voted for the F80 - the one that g-man brought to our tasting in NYC was very good, and it's clearly in its prime right now. No point in saving them, so drink up!

Pop the Mz 70 - should be just about mature, and I can find another bottle for you if you like it!

Oh no! A minor disaster has occurred!!

I went to the cupboard to get the Fonseca 1980 and there was none

My cellar records are wrong. This is extremely worrying. While consoling myself with a bottle of Vin de Constance 2000 I shall conduct a full audit of the remaining bottles immediately. Such a situation cannot be tolerated.

I just bought a Ferreira 78 and I am wondering how the 77 is like. Otherwise keep it for the second Alex&Axel meet.

I think I have posted a tasting note on the '77 - I like it a lot!

Mz70: good quality fine drinking. Not infanticide, and further bottles eminently obtainable.

And when you write your TN for it, also type your TN for the previous bottle we sampled.

Hmm, at least the kids only took the F80. Check under their bed for the empty bottle

His kids are smart: bottle goes in somebody else’s recycling bin; cork goes in dad’s cork collection.

Yes, they are hoping dear old dad will reconstruct it after it broke when they removed it

I also have 1 bottle fewer of Cockburn 1912 than I was expecting ...

Yikes! That might not be the kids. (Is that a failure to record one drunk last October, or a genuine case of a missing C12?)

That will purely be a failure to record the consumption of the bottle in October - no-one has a key to the wine store except me! No-one else to blame for poor record keeping. :(

Presumably, à la Great Train robbery, a honey trap was used to obtain a wax impression of the keys. Very good.
