1985 Fonseca vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red, still showing as very youthful. Surprisingly grapey on the nose, Very sweet and full of ripe fruit in the mouth, strongly tannic. Air through the port brings out more fruit, still so primary but with firm and ripe tannins. Extremely sweet aftertaste, quite cloying and dominated by the tannins at first. Hugely long and mouthfilling aftertaste. Big port which will be very good. 88/100. Drunk 27 June 2009.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
