2003 Quinta do Portal+

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Young and densely coloured, still deep purple. Full nose, big and full of blackcurrant. Slow to develop in the mouth, showing strong and quite fierce tannins but with a reasonable amount of fruit to balance it out. Lovely floral elements and a lavendar flavour. The aftertaste is mouthfilling and full of flavour, and lasts a good time. A relatively gentle wine, with the ability to age for some years to go. 88/100. Drunk 26 June 2009.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
