To celebrate it being Friday, my last Ramos Pinto 1985 was opened. The cork, on being pushed lightly by the corkscrew fell into the bottle, but was retrieved using the excellent plastic-bag trick mentioned here.



T+0: Immediately on decanting the same dark colour observed previously, and rich heavy nose and taste, viscous with berries and plum skins.

T+6: I had slightly ‘forgotten’ that I was taking the missus out for dinner and cinema, so drinking the port resumes some six hours later. It’s viscous and luscious and full of a set of mixed fruits I can’t identify. Berries, yes, mostly blackberries; damson skins yes; but no citrus; no banana; no lychee; no star fruit; no melon nor passion fruit.

Most of decanter stored in fridge overnight: to be resumed.

UncleTomScore = 7-7½. Maybe 7-8.

The following day: slightly blander, but still rich and viscous. Six hours decanting is all that’s needed.
