2008 Graham Malvedos

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Ex-cellars. Impenetrable purple colour, opaque. Fabulous nose, full of violets and lavendar; still very grapey. Really attractive. Rich and ripe on the palate, full of incredibly sweet fruit with a streak of brutal acidity almost hidden behind the fruit. The tannins are difficult to find, being almost completely hidden by the fruit. Dry, and slightly empty, aftertaste but the finish is long and quiet, dominated by dry blackcurrant skins. Lovely port, very easy to drink now but with lots of potential for the future. 89/100. Drunk 26 September 2010.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

GM08: lavender and blue flowers (synesthesia acknowledged); mid-weight. Some heat. Tannins remarkably light.
