Lord's Port - 17th September 2011

Post by benread »

AHB and I shall be sharing a glass or two of "fortified red wine made from grapes grown in the demarcated region of the Douro river valley in northern Portugal" at Lord's today. Review to follow, technology permitting!

The first bottle has been opened and has been revealed to be Ramos Pinto 1995 LBV, bottled in 1999.

Somerset have won the toss; Trescothick and Kieswetter are opening the batting; Matt Spriegel the bowling.

Somerset are now 57 for 3.

The second bottle has been revealed as Martinez 1985; selected as a port likely to provide enjoyable drinking that does not distract from the play.

Rain has interrupted play, but port supplies are adequate for the moment.
