Port and Steak

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

On 29th September, 3 of us realised that we were all staying on London that night so what could we do but have a steak at the Crusting Pipe and wash it down with some port.

We had Croft 1966, Martinez 1985, Niepoort 1997, Quinta do Noval 2007, Offley Boa Vista 1983. The Croft was absolutely magnificant, the Niepoort riddled with VA. Tasting notes are now online.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

This was, as always, a very pleasant evening, though i must admit all ports were overshadowed by the magnificent Croft '66 - which i think will be a shoe-in for my top ten ports tasted in 2011.

*Again* ?! my reticence to buy Niepoort at all increases further (which is a shame since apart from the VA it would be very nice port)
