Sold to me as being roughly the same quality equivalent of a Ruby Reserve Port, despite costing only €6,50. 15% alcohol.
Mature in appearance, distinct bricking in the colour; perhaps 80% opaque. Lots of plums and floral perfume on the nose, less bake than I expected considering this was bought from a shop that had no air-conditioning. The only hint of something wrong being a bit of rubberiness on the nose.
Smooth entry, soft flavours bringing raspberry ice-cream syrup. Light bodied and very simple; sweet, but not as sweet as a port. Lingering and delicate aftertaste of fantastic length. Very attractive and enjoyable. 84/100. Drunk 29 July with a 1 hour decant.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Much better than some Greek to English translations I've had from Google(or Bing) although slightly surprised it did'nt get sweet, seems Google translate has same problem i do with all the different varieties of E in Greek.Andy Velebil wrote:I had to toss that name into the Google translator. Interestingly, it looks like this is matured with something like a solera system, from what I can find on the web. I always think it’s a shame we can’t get more of these unusual fortifieds in the UK.
