2011 Sandeman Vau

6,000 bottles produced. Youthful purple with a medium thick rim. Floral perfume on the nose with lots of green herbaceousness. Fruit forward entry, thick texture, then a wave of generous tannins and big acidity wrapped around the modest fruit. Big tannins dominate the finish, which is huge and chewy. Great length. A fine medium-bodied port from this superb vintage. 91-93/100. Drunk 24-Apr-14 at BFT5.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
