2009 Sandeman LBV

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled unfiltered in 2013. Deep red and concentrated in colour; 95% opaque. Dense and tight on the nose. Luscious texture, deep sweet fruit that almost hides the huge tannins. This is really grippy; huge - almost the point of being brutal - but has the fruit to pull off the trick of being a very good port. 92/100. Drunk 24-Apr-14 at BFT5.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

2026: Quinta das Carvalhas 80YO Tawny
