2001 Château Poujeaux

From a magnum:
a little tawny at the rim, 80% opaque, has a great seductive nose of red currant and forest soil, so there is still some primary fruit, but already early signs of maturity, medium body, nice acidity, still some sturdy tannins, forest soil in the mouth and in the aftertaste, the finish is not that long (10 to 15 seconds), still too young, but it was interesting to see the balance between youth and early maturity.

My, what glamourous supermarkets you do have. Double magnums too! Last thing I got free in a supermarket was a scrap of 'cheese' which I would guess shared a production process with lorry tyres.

It was the annual "Schlemmerabend" (gourmand's night) where they roll out rarities to taste. They normally don't have magnums on their shelves.
The only Bordeaux magnum they have on the shelf at the moment is a 1996 Patache d'Aux . But they also have the '97 Poujeaux as a standard bottle for 24,95 Euros (I guess).
They also have two VPs at the moment: a 2007 Gould Campbell and a 2008 Niepoort Bioma.

Bioma is surely the most minor of the super cuvées? It's just another of these ideas that Dirk has. Here's an interesting bit of the vineyard, let's make a port of just this. It's not £300 a bottle.

This same innocent idea has occurred to Graham, Taylor and others besides. I shall whittle this argument to a sharp point and prod you with it later.

How much is the Bioma?

I will look at the price tag when shopping there the next time. I guess it's between 70 and 80 Euros.
