Having a Madeira offline of my own while I wait for 2000 photos to sync online from my computer...
This is a good deal darker than the Barbeito 2002 Malvasia Colheita I had a moment ago. A red-brown nutty colour, conker, tinged with the varnish that one used to spend so much time picking off the underside of the school desks.
A heavier nose: toffeeish, but perhaps more obviously dates, or even prunes.
In the mouth, the noticeably sharp entry is juicy, backed with heavy woodiness in the mid-palate; it gives way to apricots and spiced wood. There are some tannins, but rather light. This is quite cloying; a classic mid-weight Madeira I guess. It has freshness, it has floral fruitiness that rounds out to softer, heavier flavours, and behind everything is that woodiness that suggests a long Atlantic journey and perhaps an artificial limb.

I think if the Madeira ran out on the passage to Barbados you could suck your leg. Makes sense, see?LGTrotter wrote:You kill me!djewesbury wrote: and perhaps an artificial limb.
