1996 Calon Segur
Deep red in colour with a red rim, 90% opaque. Cedar wood on the nose, deep and earthy. Gentle and enveloping fruit, rich and round but with powerful tannins still showing loudly. Woody aftertaste with a powerful resinous finish of great length. Good claret. 87/100. Drunk 11-Jul-14. Decanted 2½ hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
