1985 Gruard Larose
Nice red colour with a rose rim; 75% opaque. Initially subdued on the nose but lots of swirling releases an attractive and concentrated raisin fruit. Lovely fruit impact which holds throughout the palate, supported by the gentle tannins. The medium palate gives a chewy mouthfeel. The wonderful chewy flavours dominate the finish, giving a great length. A touch rustic compared to the Mouton '83. 91/100. 11-Jul-14. Decanted 2½ hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
