Anything but Port, this includes all wines other than fortified wines (which have their own section) even if they call themselves Port. There is a search facility for this part of the forum.

1983 Mouton Rothschild

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red, with a deep rose rim; still 95% opaque. Big on the nose, earthy and surprisingly grassy with intense dried purple fruits. High in acidity on the initial palate; elegant and restrained fruit but huge and powerful tannins. The tannins are huge on the aftertaste and finish and deliver a massive length. Despite the tannic presence, this is a surprisingly elegant wine and is very enjoyable. 93/100. 11-Jul-14. Decanted 2½ hours.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

2026: DR Very Old White, Graham Stone Terraces 2011, Quevedo Branco 1986 b.2026
