Re: 1983 Barca Velha
Bought from a recent online auction in Sweden along with a mag of G66.
Somewhat dull and closed on the nose, notes of vanilla, barnyard and some leather perhaps. On the palate, the effect of the oak barrels prevail, but the mouthfeel is not quite as smooth as that of a Rioja, a tad thin and sour, to my taste at least.
In all, a nice wine to have tried and shared but not one which left any significant impression.

Re: 1983 Barca Velha
A rare privilege to drink this, thank you Magnus! Red-brown colour and looking mature. Farmyard nose, not overly attractive but bringing rich and delicate fruit on the palate. Nicely mature and drinking really nicely. Delicate finish - a very nice wine. Served blind, this was guessed to be a mature Rhone wine from the late '70s. 89/100.
