2004 Royal Oporto Carvalhas

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Drunk at Carvalhas. Lovely dense nose of sweet, slightly jammy fruit. Big, sweet fruit on the palate, full of round and ripe toasted tannins. A lovely complexity with great floral components that complement the tannins. Dry tannins on the aftertaste, a chewy and fruity finish of great length. A surprisingly impressive port from a patchy year. 92/100. Drunk 25-Sep-14. Pop 'n' pour.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
