1977 Sandeman vintage port
Deep red in colour, but with a surprisingly clear centre. Slightly peppery nose over a sweetened redcurrant core. Lovely impact in the mouth showing terrific fruit on entry. Lovely mid-palate development and terrific complexity, which develops beautifully. A big aftertaste, mouth-filling and generous, with the sweet redcurrants lingering for a long time. This bottle is believed to have come from the Sandeman family cellar, and was a very good example of the way the wine can show. 92/100. Drunk 26 June 2009.
