Sorry will have to postpone this - Joao Monteiro is no longer available and he was going to fill some of the gaps.

We could go with what we have but I feel it would be a stronger tasting with Pocas representation

Is there some other purpose to which we could usefully put the date?

How about a Warre vertical? Phil was commenting the other day that we haven’t had a Warre vertical for a while.

We have a B&F booking.

Decision needed. Is date to be re-used? Should B&F be cancelled?

BF should be cancelled - Joao Monteiro left Pocas earlier this year and we were dependent on him for a few of the VP's

I’m declaring a substitute ‘emergency’ to be held at the B&F on Tue 26th April 2022. Theme: bring Port. I’m in, and bringing a magnum.

Confirmed attendees have until 21:00 on Thu 7th April to join the emergency, after which it will be opened to all comers.

First post believed to be correctly updated. Pls verify.

Blind or sighted? Or semi-sighted: bringer to reveal type, and either shipper or year, but not both?

I vote semi.

Theme: bring Port. I’m in, and bringing a magnum.
I shall bring a bottle. The only clue is that it will be from the birth year of someone else present.

We are three-to-nil on semi-sighted. Decision: semi-sighted. Each to reveal category; size; exactly-one-of-shipper-or-year-or-age. And to reveal same by 21:00 on Sunday 24th April.

JDAW reveals: Vintage Port; magnum; 1970.

The theme for this tasting has given me a thought for a future tasting. The future theme is for a sighted tasting where participants reveal type, shipper and vintage of what they bring but lie about one of these “facts”. Drinkers have to identify which is the untruth.

OK - I'll go for plan B
Probably Vintage Port, 1970.
The 'Probably' adds just that extra frisson of pleasurable uncertainty...
Then I'll probably bring a Noval, and probably a Noval vintage I've not drunk for eight years now, despite having twelve bottles in the cellar.
