2001 Taylor Vargellas

Post by nac »

One of six bottles in OWC obtained from C&B in February 2020.

Opened 1645 on 1st November 2022, the evening before the TTF vertical. Decanted, then back into the bottle and Vac-U-Vined.

Level into neck; no problems with cork.

Fairly heavy, loose sediment.

QA sample OK, with no obvious faults.

'The real thing' was my comment on the nose. But a bit challenging on the palate. Was the fruit hiding behind the tannin or is it lacking? My conclusion after a couple of hours in glass was that this was nice wine, so that suggests the fruit is there. It could plausibly rest in bottle another few years.

60% opacity, deep red. Dry, flabby red fruit.
