Liked this - my joint favourite on the night. Nose and palate both good or better. Gave it 5+/7 and 2pts.

Great colour.
A bit dumb on the nose.
Pleasant port with a good bit of licorice, and I gave it a point, but for me not absolutely singing tonight. Maybe needs to have been open longer?
The group favourite.

SW83 Dark dark red, 80% opaque. Dark plum, then dry mid-palate. Size, length — I like liked this.
Re: 1983 Smith Woodhouse
Very dark red, no nose on this but very pleasant on the palate perfectly pleasant Port. Good.

E: Dark red tending to mid-red at the rim.
N: A fruity (and perhaps slightly liquorice-y) nose.
P: A slightly less full palate than the QH, with less spice. Good length.
The third of three Ports from the column of acceptability. (1 point given).

Deep red colour with an opaque centre and a medium rim. Attractive nose of dark fruit, a lovely mix of cherry and a hint of cinnamon - fabulous! Grated dark cooking chocolate and sweet bramble fruit are nicely integrated giving a rounded and multi-layered palate with just a dusting of fine-grained tannins in the fruit. The sweet fruit is ripe and well matched by generous acidity in the wine. The aftertaste is perfumed Turkish Delight, sweet and full of fragrant rose water. This is a youthful Port which is well integrated and showing a nice balance between fruit and the first signs of secondary notes. This was my wine of the night from the 16 1983 VPs we tasted. 93/100. Decanted 3½ hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.
2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

65% opacity, very dark red. Deep concentrated red fruit - cranberry. Ful mouthfeel, some early dryness but overall good balance.
