Help with handwriting

Post by Justin K »

Evening all, maybe someone can help me read the names in this document (cellar list from a customer of mine). An abstemious lot as evidenced by the second photo but by then they were living in the Victorian era😊🍷

Won’t let me add photos?

Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Was writing bottle some sort of writing quirk in those days?

I'm not sure that is "le" in the superscript though. None of the other letter e are written that way. It looks like an l then an s. bottls. Which is still a bit strange :D

Lots of other old English too. Been instead of bin. Seald rather than sealed. Bottled abbrieviated to bottd. Number abbrieviated to nobr.

I’ll do a draft transcript over the weekend… for wine label people this stuff is current spelling.
