1974 The Port Society Colheita

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

On Thursday 11th December a few of us gathered together at the White Horse in Newport, Essex to open some bottles with no labels and few clues as to their identity. There were also some oddities opened alongside them. Many bottles cold be identified from their branded corks, but a large minority had no branding or illegible branding.

Quevedo Port Society Finest Reserve 1974, bottled 2013. Warm ginger cake on the nose. Lovely smooth texture on the palate, full of expressive ginger root. Green leaves and ginger root aftertaste and finish. Enjoyable but rather disjointed - but should be better in a year or two. 87/100. Pop and pour.
