1900 Unknown (Bottled by Sandiford and Armstrong)

On Thursday 11th December a few of us gathered together at the White Horse in Newport, Essex to open some bottles with no labels and few clues as to their identity. There were also some oddities opened alongside them. Many bottles cold be identified from their branded corks, but a large minority had no branding or illegible branding.

1900 bottled by Sandiford Son & Armstrong in 1902, but shipper unknown. Very pale colour. Sweet redcurrant jelly on the nose, faint but clean. Bitter on the palate, dry and with the tannins dominating. Not pleasant. Hot finish. 81/100. Decanted 1 hour.
