On Thursday 11th December a few of us gathered together at the White Horse in Newport, Essex to open some bottles with no labels and few clues as to their identity. There were also some oddities opened alongside them. Many bottles cold be identified from their branded corks, but a large minority had no branding or illegible branding.

Re: ???? Unknown
Old, believed from the late 1800s or very early 1900s. Rose red colour about 30% opaque. Redcurrant and lavender soap on the nose. Lovely fruit on the palate, ripe but with a bitter core keeping a terrific contrast between the two. Lively, full of vigour. Delicious. 92/100. Decanted 2 hours.
