WED 17TH June - Bottle wrapped in foil and Quevedo Closure Experience Case

Post by Christopher »

It’s been ages since I have done a blind tasting, we used to do more of these bring a bottle wrapped in foil tastings. In the early days of TPF I think they were the most common type of tastings. We have become better at doing excellent organised verticals and horizontals. Once in a while a decent blind tasting is a lot of fun.

I think we will go for a Vintage Port from a classic vintage between 1960 and 1985 so it’s a bit less open to totally left field bottles

This has now been booked for Wednesday 17th June. I have the Red Room reserved so can do up to 14. We'll aim for 18.00 arrival for starting at 18.30.

As I know I will get asked I don't mind if you bring your wine in a decanter but please bring original bottle wrapped in foil or the like for the great reveal!

In addition Oscar is kindly bringing one of his Closure Experience cases. Same Port, 4 different stoppers - natural cork, synthetic Cork, screw cap and a dumpy bottle with a natural cork.

Everyone needs to confirm they can make this date please

Definitely interested. Probably needs to be a week or so either side of RP tasting on Tuesday 9 June. Note one of England’s World Cup matches is on Tuesday 23 June

Apologies to everyone, but the date of this tasting has changed slightly - it's now to be held on Wednesday 17th June in the Red Room at the Boot & Flogger.

Please can you confirm that you can make the new date.

Christopher and I have been exchanging messages behind the scenes with Oscar, who has to be in London for a meeting on Thursday 18th. By moving the date back by a day, we have been able to include Oscar at this TPF event. Thanks in advance for enabling us to include Oscar.

Thank you Christopher for the flexibility in moving the original date. And thank you Alex for helping with the communication.

I hope we won't lose any of you who previously confirmed. See you soon.

If there is space, please may I join you. I just need to figure logistics of being at The Oval during the day and hence not being able to bring my bottle at 6pm ish. I guess if I am lucky I can drop it off before play starts at c. 10am or so?

In the past, I have asked very nicely in the ticket office and they've held a bottle for me for the day.

We have 1 place free at the moment.

Christopher wanted the people who had originally said they were interested but were then not able to make the 16th June to have priority for that last space - that's Charles and John. I've added your names to the reserves list in the order you both posted so Christopher knows where to pick things up from when he's properly back online.

My job is done...

I gave it 24 hours, will now prioritise on a first come first serve basis and if you had said no assume it’s still no.
So Ben that adds you in
