Already been called and was wrong then as well. The New York boroughs joke has now beeen attempted three times and it wasn't funny the first time. For pity's sake look in flipping Wikipedia, under 'Lancashire'.DRT wrote:Brooklyn?

This could be amusing if I'm wrong,
but as it's you Alex, and your a Southern Softie, could I suggest the following to put you out of your misery in Lancashire matters.
The Lancaster Canal starts in the Borough of Kendal. It then traverses, surprisingly enough, through the Borough of Lancaster, before ending up in the Borough of Preston.
That is nowhere near Covent Garden.
Happy Easter.

Good to see you Alan. But you are wrong. Don't forget that I used to live in Lancashire. Happy Easter.

Aren't you assuming that Conky's comment was aimed at you? I read it and assumed it was aimed at me - and it made me laugh, which has not happened too much today.KillerB wrote:Good to see you Alan. But you are wrong. Don't forget that I used to live in Lancashire. Happy Easter.
Since I'm allowed another guess now - how about West Lancashire?
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

West Lancs - ahhhh, Ormskirk and Skem. Nope.
I'm beginning to think that this is a conspiracy.

Wikipedia was no help. I'm going to guess Preston. Or Queens. But hopefully Preston.

Yes - at last. We started in the borough of Burnley at Hapton Bridge and walked along the Leeds Liverpool canal path, all the way through Hyndburn, including Harrison's home town of Oswaldtwistle, finishing in Blackburn (with Darwen) at the Red Lion.jdaw1 wrote:Hyndburn?

And that was the guess I changed last time. Happens.
Yesterday I went to the barber. My instruction to said barber consisted of two clauses, each containing a number. What was my instruction?

Re: One quiz at a time
Hmm... given what I recall of your hairstyle, I'm going to guess that your instruction was a 4 blade all over and a 3 blade on the sides.

Re: One quiz at a time
The form of the request is near enough (x on top, y on sides), but your numbers are hopeless.
Re: One quiz at a time
Well I'm a 3 all over, so I don't have much experience with the larger blades and was just guessing!

I'm not buying this - your hair isn't that short! I do a 3 all over and it leaves my hair about 3/8" long. Have you gone buzz cut since the Old and Odd?
Oh wait, I think I figured it out...
1.5" on top and 1" on the sides. Which, technically, is what Derek guessed as well so I'm too late.

Using the date of first publication, what is the average age (rounded up to the nearest year) of the books that I have in my collection of books about Port and wine?
Derek

Note 2: My usual PC just broke and I will have to work this out again so there may be a short delay in calculating the correct answer

I just worked it out. The only clues I am willing to give at this stage are that I smiled broadly when I realised what the average vintage is and that Julian is too high.

JDAW in particular will no doubt be unsurprised that a re-count is required. I just found two more books that were not included in my initial calculation.
Glenn's answer is wrong, principally as a result of my incorrect clue. Sorry.

All clues are still good apart from the reasoning behind the misguided broad smile.

Hmm... 2 books can easily change the number quite significantly. I'm going to guess 42, because I think that covers a fairly broad range of possibilities of the 2 most recently added books also happen to be new.
