Me next. The Pink Panther?

No -it was a reply, not a guess.DRT wrote:I assume that was a guess.KillerB wrote:I'm out because I am prohibiting myself from guessing.jdaw1 wrote:You’re out because the rules prohibit you from guessing.

You're out! - You said it - you can't go back. It's a rule. Please, JDAW, tell him it's a rule!KillerB wrote:Pink Panther
It's not a rule, I unprevented myself from guessing.DRT wrote:You're out! - You said it - you can't go back. It's a rule. Please, JDAW, tell him it's a rule!KillerB wrote:Pink Panther

I put "French Comedy" and got a list of 49, more than half of which weren't actually French. Only one of the others I recognised - "Amelie", which I'd already guessed. I only tried Pink Panther to annoy you. Really, this is an impossible quiz.DRT wrote:I typed "French humour" into google and my web browser returned a fatal error. Will try another route.
This was not a guess.
Whatever it is I sincerely hope he doesn't post it here. This thread is disturbing enough without that.KillerB wrote: whatever will Julian think of next?
Donald?DRT wrote:Green Card (on the basis that any film staring Donald Depardieu is as funny as any real French film could ever be - i.e. not funny at all)
So you know:jdaw1 wrote:I’ll join the film theme. There are several film comedies that are excellent, including the obvious Monty Pythons. But one of my favourite films from this genre is French. Yes, an award-winning French film not about Sartre, sex or smoking!
Donald is French for Gerard. Don't you know anything?KillerB wrote:Donald?DRT wrote:Green Card (on the basis that any film staring Donald Depardieu is as funny as any real French film could ever be - i.e. not funny at all)
My first guess qualified on every level, apart from the name of the film.jdaw1 wrote:No and no.

Yes, an award-winning French film not about Sartre, sex or smoking!There can’t be many of those, but, because I’m nice, here’s another:
- Comedy;
- Python-esque;
- French;
- Award-winning.
- Released in a year with very few declarations.
1972 had many more than ‟very few” declarations.DRT wrote:My first guess qualified on every level, apart from the name of the film.
Les Visiteurs: impressively funny French comedy, Python-esque, award-winning, released 1993.KillerB wrote:The Visitors?
The 1993 Patrice Leconte film? Also excellent, but not quite as funny.DRT wrote:Tango?
Correct - Glenn's on.Glenn E. wrote:The Others?
Glenn, is the answer 11th July 1987?KillerB wrote:Glenn's on.
That would be the answer to one potential question, but not the one I had in mind.DRT wrote:Glenn, is the answer 11th July 1987?
An excellent movie and one that I have enjoyed more than once, and from an appropriately lackluster Port year, but no not my favorite. I'm old, but I'm not that old.DRT wrote:The Sting?
A movie that I have often heard is very good, but which I have not seen.jdaw1 wrote:Get Carter?

I would rule out 1980 on the basis there were 37 declarations, almost all of which were the shippers classic blends.AHB wrote: THINKING
