Summat Outanowt is a post Hugh Cornwell song, very post, this one isn't. However, it does appear to be sung (loose term) by the right person.

I'm not sure which Stranglers album that was off, but that counts as a guess in my mind. My next guess is Non Stop (Nun).

Perhaps you should start to indicate whether I have at least got the right album.

...and Non Stop was sung by Hugh Cornwell.

A quick explanation of The Stranglers' voices:

Hugh Cornwell - dark, unpleasant and deeply disturbing;

Jean Jacques Burnel - gruesome

Yes - but short of buying the albums or listening to samples of every track, I can find no way to discover who sang which tracks on which albums other than JJB sang La Folie.

I must confess that I don't know many Stranglers songs... But, as mentioned before, somebody has been surprisingly close... We had a few mentionings of ABBA songs, like Waterloo,.... so I checked the songs from the band that sound like ABBA songs in the title... and my guess is "Money"...

"Money" is a Pink Floyd or Jerry Lee Lewis song (notably covered by the Flying Lizards), not even ABBA - that was "Money Money Money" from the 1976 album Arrival. I am sad enough not to need to look this stuff up. However did look up to find that a post-Hugh song called "Money" existed - this is also incorrect.

There is no "A" in the answer.

Next clue - DRT was the closest. It was a single and a hit, it was not on an original studio album. It was notably (even notoriously) performed on Top of the Pops. It was sung (well vocalised) and written by Jean Jacques Burnel. It doesn't contain the letter "E" either, nor even "I" but has three words, one of which is repeated. It has several misogynistic references and a drug reference, but got more airplay rather than the better known other "A" side which had some misogynistic references but no drug references, such was Radio 1's policy at the time. It does not appear on any Stranglers "Greatest Hits" albums that I know about.

Is this enough help so that somebody else can have a go?

Correct - not a crap song though, Stranglers doing Status Quo. I had loads of coloured vinyl, it was rubbish played back.

I hadn't thought this through. I knew Peaches had a crap B side from my youth. With that knowledge and the internet, I came up with the answer. I've just glanced and wondered what 'Conky's on' meant.

Of course at the start of the thread was....{If you get it right, you then have to pose an equally useless but guessable question. If you guess wrong, you can’t guess again until somebody else has had a guess, or until a new question is posed (which would happen because a previous guess is marked ‘correct’).}

Thats a bit of a poser, as I'm not on here as regular as I once was. But always up for a laugh, I'll check once every 24 hours for a week, before giving in and just saying some poor soul was right, whether they were or not!

So Conky's Week long poser....

It is a title. But not Secretary, Captain or Jule's punt.

I'm off to the Club's Council monthly meeting this evening in this guise. The meetings are held under Company Law as the Club is a limited Company. So like the Secretary and the Captain, what other official positions do Golf Clubs often have?

Maybe if you dressed in yellow checked plus two's and a red pringle jumper, whilst looking at yourself in the bedroom mirror, it may inspire your golfing imagination?

Unless you looked in Wikipedia where you would have seen it as their second single and their first top ten hit.

OK - back to films. What was the first film that I ever went to the cinema to see? My Mother claims that I said "Go 'ome" in a very miserable voice all the way through it and I think my taste at that age should be applauded.

Not St Trinian's nor Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Wizard of Oz or even Yellow Submarine.

However, one of these could be considered "close". Remember the year that I was born (I do not hide this) and consider that I saw it when it came out. When I say "saw", I mean was in the cinema whinging, which may give a clue to the age I was at the time.
