1970 Dow

Deep red centre, clear and going rosy on the rim. Nosing of chart cherries and rhubarb. Quite dry on entry, with soft tannins behind the ripe fruit; full bodied and beautifully complex with a slightly bitter element. Warm and delicious aftertaste; mouthfilling and with a very long length which is surprsisingly sweet. A very good port. 91/100. Drunk 1 Feb 2010. The unanimous wine of the night at the offline.

Lovely red, 70% opaque. Nosing of medium-sweet cranberry. To taste quite dry and astringent, medium weight, late-palate sweetness. Lovely, though too light to be great.

1970 Dow -- This was the clear POTN for me. Pretty dark caramel and just a bit of spice on the nose. Good weight in the mouth, smooth transition from attack to mid to finish. How I like my women -- rich and elegant, but somehow understated and comfortable. A bit of heat on the finish, but so many truckloads of bright red cherries all around you hardly care. 91
