1970 Dow vintage port
Deep red centre, clear and going rosy on the rim. Nosing of chart cherries and rhubarb. Quite dry on entry, with soft tannins behind the ripe fruit; full bodied and beautifully complex with a slightly bitter element. Warm and delicious aftertaste; mouthfilling and with a very long length which is surprsisingly sweet. A very good port. 91/100. Drunk 1 Feb 2010. The unanimous wine of the night at the offline.

Lovely red, 70% opaque. Nosing of medium-sweet cranberry. To taste quite dry and astringent, medium weight, late-palate sweetness. Lovely, though too light to be great.

Good weight in the mouth, smooth transition from attack to mid to finish. How I like my women -- rich and elegant, but somehow understated and comfortable. A bit of heat on the finish, but so many truckloads of bright red cherries all around you hardly care. 91
