Just seen the fruit thing. Fruit? with a bacon sarnie?
My brain has stopped. Thank god I don't have to guess.
I'm working with nothing here.

DEREK WINS THE PRIZE!
(There is no prize)
It was a russet apple from the abandoned, overgrown orchard in the gardens of the Palacio de Mateus - even the vines seem to be untended. It was a little unripe when I picked it but it was perfect today. The malic acid allowed me to make an observation about fermentation methods in white wines.
The prize is that DRT has to set a question.

Re: One quiz at a time
Funnily enough (going back to the fruit) this Tesco Bomfim 99 has a taste of green apples in the finish, which I've never noticed in port before. Meanwhile, on opening, RB, not having been told what it was, observed a smell of bananas, a smell she associates with freshly opened Dow. Is there a reason why Dow smells of bananas?

"RB"? Riebera?
If so, it could be potassium. Bananas are 10% potassium. Schist is high in potassium and Riebera wines are particularly "earthy" in that they seem to have a very high mineral content.

What did I find in the hospital grounds today to eat?
DRT; what's the Batailey like? Couldn't quite bring myself to pay twice what I did for the lasst few vintages.

My experience of drinking classed growth Bordeaux extends to just over two months. This tastes very nice to me and is recognisable as being from the same producer as the fabulous 1989 I had two nights ago.LGTrotter wrote:DRT; what's the Batailey like? No and no, but DRT deserves a commendation for realising it was a psychiatric hospital.
I've been drinking my way through the batailley 2000s and 03s, dull as ditchwater for the most part.

How much trouble do you think you are in? is the answer.
