Not 'back door to heaven'. It sounds... interesting, though.

Ellesmere's Orange?
Traditional means the older varieties that are less grown these days, including some that have disappeared and then been found growing in some overgrown orchard, quite forgotten about; harder to find, but worth pursuing. PortForum enthusiasts can understand that I think!

I think that you need the tannins to work against the sweetness of port and the port seems to bring out the pineapple in the apple. Not quite ripe yet, at least not in Zummerset

Re: One quiz at a time
During this protracted intermission while I wait for a thought to clatter into my empty dome; as I drain the last drop of Dalva 71 white Colheita from my glass; as I play for time and wonder what JDAW's question is (attempting to formulate a question that he might guess)... I wonder does anyone have quite such an amazing accent as Jill Abramson of the New York Times...
A question. A question.
I just perused a facsimile of the first edition of a newspaper. Which one?

Why do I try to get the question right, it really is quite strain this setting questions.
OK, there have been some questions about grandfathers and here is mine.
My grandfather was a bonded labourer on an irish farm in the twenties. At the end of each year he would have to give his pound to his father (who drank it). After several years of this he hid for two days before setting off for England with his pound.
Where did my grandfather hide?
