I just can't think of anything.

So I must fall back on quibbling about the rules. As I understand it I am not allowed to guess again if I guess incorrectly. But if I guess and get no response am I allowed to guess again before that guess has been identified as incorrect? And have that guess audited with the other guess. Not that I have a guess to guess right now. Oh just forget it.

Well spotted. Yes you can guess so long as someone else has guessed even if you haven't been told you're wrong.

Rules: hypothetically, Asker goers away to bathe children. Or, better, decant Port. Bob and Charles guess, B then C then B then C then B then C then B then C then B then C then B then C then B then C then B then C then B then C then B then C then B then C then B then C then B then C then B then C then B then C then B then C then B. Maybe one of these guesses is correct, probably not. But B can’t guess next: he just has. After C has next guessed, or D or E or F or G, then B can guess again.

At last, children’s bathing done, or better, A returns. If somebody was correct, fine. If not, guessing continues, except that the most recent guesser can’t until somebody else has.

But the forfeit is attached to guessing wrong and only after it is identified as wrong are you required to wait for someone else to guess again, perhaps there is some tort law which could help identify whether negligence on the part of the questioner has occurred.

I did have another guess prepared but will patiently wait my turn.

Me too. I think this is a very good game, but I would like us to try another one for a while.

Othello has a repeated number in it. The letter O is often informally (if incorrectly) used to represent zero, particularly in speech. And the letter L represents the number 50 in Roman numerals. Did anyone specify the numerals being used...?

What is you suggestion?

I don't think we necessarily need a new game, but I do think JDAW has posed a question that only a small section of society could guess. Unless of course he gave us some clues that actually helped.

There is of course the fact that we are all middle-aged men. Not exactly au fait in the world of mobile phone games. Even the words 'mobile phone games' are probably laughably solecistic, my students would probably be in stitches at this outrageous archaism.

OK, I won't throw my toys out of the pram yet. Or walk off with the ball. Or whatever the correct analogy is. But perhaps someone could guess the answer soon....
