Or am I too late? Was DRT correct when he guessed that he was lost?

80 or 88. (Next guesser to guess one of them, at which time I become deemed to have guessed the other.)

It appears to be a subdivision of Speyside, according to the SMWS (see box below map). I'm guessing it would be a distilery that is right next to the Spey itself.

I think I have worked out that this is the whisky that was released on the first Friday of the month in which Daniel visited the SMWS in Edinburgh. But the option to list the First Friday whiskies doesn't seem to work so I have no way of finding out what it was. Does it work for anyone else?

You are correct. It was released in their July 13 outturn (Wimbledon final was 7 July). I can give you a further clue; it's no longer available. Which means, when I finish this bottle (which I'm likely to do before you guess what it is) I can't get any more.

I think that given all the clues I've given you should get there this month though.

But you have the list of Speyside distilleries, and a map will tell you which ones are nearer the river Spey, and Julian's list tells you the numbers, and you have obviously been striking the incorrect guesses off the list... You're so close. You can't fold now.

Or can you....?

There are a few dozen possible distilleries and a few hundred possible casks numbers. Dozens x hundreds isn't good odds when it comes to guessing.

We've been through about a third of the Speysides. Once you get the distillery, I'm sure you could narrow it down very quickly by looking at what their latest bottling is.

But you go ahead and quit.

I can't find anywhere on the SMWS website where it lists what has been released for each distillery. They don't seem to be leaving a complete historical record, which is shoddy.

It is surprising that Julian hasn't guessed this as he will have been sent an email on or around 1st of July this year telling him the answer.
