I don't know anything about whisky (and don't drink anything that is stronger than port).
So I just make a wild guess after consulting a German Retailers website that offers 1681 whiskies:
Bowmore 15 Years Laimrig

I thing it will take some time to find the answer, after we played the usual "guess the whisky"-game (there are simply too many)

No, but you have eliminated the vast majority of possibilities by correctly guessing that it is an Islay whisky.

Oooh I do hope we have a cask number to find!

Laphroaig? I'll narrow it down later.

Point of order Mr Chairman. Andre seems to have taken a few turns without anybody else having a go. I have the English urge to queue.

OK glad to see this point has been tackled.

Ok, I will stand in the corner and be ashamed of myself. But you should take into consideration that we don't form queues here in the Rhineland. We take the more anarchic "elbows-out and who's the first in the bus" approach. (It's similar to our behaviour on the autobahn.)

As you all know, Port contains alcohol. One side effect of alcohol consumption, at least for me, is that things which might have been mildly funny sometimes seem hilarious when I'm drinking Port. One such thing - a book - was revisited tonight and was just as hilarious as it first was two years ago.

What book did I reread tonight?

Since that is a rather wide-open question, your first clue is that the author is best known for her blog.

Neither. I know nothing about either author guessed, so this reminder may not be necessary, but the book and blog in question are intended to be humor (as opposed to being unintentionally humorous). However, while the humor of the blog and book is intentional, the humor in the context of the original subject is accidental.

The author has written two books on the subject.

Have boarded flight to Seattle. Next update in ~4 hours. I leave you with an additional clue: the subject is related to another casual hobby of mine, and the two together have a witty saying that explains one difference between them.

Posting, but no guessing. Is my question insufficiently clued?

The author is American. Referring to the work as a book is perhaps generous. Graphic novel might be closer, except for the novel part and GBE presumption of drawing included in the term. Though there us considerable drawing in the book, the images therein are all photographs.

More?

Not quite, no. I don't believe that the author is a cook or baker. She has written two books based on her blog, the first of which shared its name.

It might be more accurate to call the books aggregations or extra-long blog posts. They are pretty much the same humor as the blog, just in print form.

:(

She blogs about cakes, specifically humorous cakes.
She has written two books on the subject, the first of which shares its name with the blog. The second, which is the one you're looking for, is holiday themed.
The "Sunday Sweets" blog entries are special in that they are not humorous, but instead admiring of the subject cakes.

Julian and other resident pedants will like at least some of her blog entries, as she makes fun of spelling (and grammar, and punctuation) errors.

If you cannot Google for the win at this point, there is no hope.
