So we have established that I ate something with four legs, that was not (part of) a pig. It was not purchased in Ireland (or the UK). It was not in a pie nor have I ever put this animal in a pie.
Once a couple of serious guesses have been made I might consider giving a clue.

Unfortunately not. I have made plenty of rabbit pies and indeed would know where to find rabbit here (from the same man who sawed up my tree).
I have seen this animal in the wild twice, once in a field adjacent to Stonehenge and once on top of Divis Mountain outside Belfast. In certain circumstances it is a protected species.

But like the goat, this is an animal that has always had a great deal of mythology around it. I once had to mark a dissertation in which the student had written about the artist Joseph Beuys, who made a famous piece of art featuring one of these animals. The student built up a complicated theory of the symbolism of the piece which, unfortunately, I was duty bound to demolish, as the student got one very important fact about the animal's habits entirely wrong, and this undermined the whole of the rest of their theory. Ho-hum.

Yes, a hare. Delicious hare fillets, in peppercorns and juniper berries. And tonight we have two legs which I've been marinading in LBV overnight.

(The student, incidentally, started their dissertation by talking about how hares live underground. What a shame, a red line through the rest of the essay.)

(Beuys' piece is quite captivating, in fact; his reason for often using felt and fat in his performances were reportedly to do with his experience as a Luftwaffe pilot. He claimed he was shot down, and was the only survivor, suffering severe burns all over his body. He claimed that Tartar tribesmen found him and wrapped him in fat and felt to help his burns heal. The veracity of the story is disputed by some however. And please don't think that he did it all completely earnestly, he did have a very good sense of humour.)

CSI:Miami includes a character Natalia Boa Vista, and

I am in the process of applying to have a word added to the OED. I have my bibliographic references and my etymology all lined up. It is not a neologism. It is a noun.

I do not expect you to guess the word, but please tell me what type of a thing it is.
