1970 Croft
Decanted at 12.00, drunk at 20.00. Deep red, mature in tone; 50% opaque. The nose is a little smelly, unpleasant bottle stink. The wine is better on the palate where the bottle stink is less pronounced, but despite being less pronounced the bottle stink dominates the red cherry fudge palate. The bottle is not as good as it should be, but is drinkable. 85/100. Drunk at the first Port Forum Awards dinner on 07-Feb-23. Decanted 8 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.
2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
