Light edge, clear centre. Toffee and coffee fudge on the nose. Dry entry with a watery texture. The sweetness comes through as part of the mid-palate, bringing a flood of restrained strawberry syrup. Still some tannins in the wine but most of the structure comes from the acidity that balances the syrup. The aftertaste is slow to develop and never really arrives. 5/5 or 91/100. Decanted for 4½ hours and drunk on 28/1/08.

Funny moment. I put the glass to my nose and immediately declared "That smells of Dow's" - a confused Jdaw turned to me and said "what does Dow's smell like?" - instantly thrusting the glass under his nose I replied "like that!" - maybe you had to be there

My TN says: "Dow's nose - sweet entry then peppery and then dry"

I rated this 5th out of 14. AHB had it at 6th.

A big thanks to Simon Lisle for supplying this wonderfull bottle of port.
