On Thursday 11th December a few of us gathered together at the White Horse in Newport, Essex to open some bottles with no labels and few clues as to their identity. There were also some oddities opened alongside them. Many bottles cold be identified from their branded corks, but a large minority had no branding or illegible branding.

Re: 1937 Quinta do Noval Colheita (bottled 1972)
AJ da Silva 1937, bottled 1972. Aged and evolved appearance. Tired and oxidised on the nose, with a bit of fruit. Bitter on the palate with an intense acidity giving a better impression to the palate than to the nose. Lovely bitter, ginger root finish with great length and intensity. 89/100. Decanted 1 hour.
