One quiz at a time
Re: One quiz at a time
It was a hard night at my first job on Wall St, but it turned out to be a very memorable night too. A good friend was going to london to work permanently so we went out in style. It was the night I had my first bottle of port, Fonseca 1983.
Matter of fact, they still have it in their cellars. Where was I?

They do play a game, but an intra-squad game can hardly be compared to playing their traditional enemy, the Oklahoma Sooners. (Young 'uns who don't understand tradition might attempt to quibble that Nebraska's traditional enemy is Colorado. That, however, was a manufactured rivalry created by Colorado in an attempt to give their team something more to strive for during the season. It is but a pale imitation of the old Nebraska-Oklahoma rivalry of the '60s, '70s, '80s, and '90s up through the creation of the Big XII. Better dead than Sooner red.)jdaw1 wrote:Wasn’t so wrong.jdaw1 wrote:They play, and usually beat, their traditional enemy.

If one of your clues is a little misleading (though not necessarily wrong), the answer might be Delmonico’s.

Close, but no cigar.
Delmonico's port selection is actually kind of weak.

Harry’s.
From conversation over at tonight’s tasting, I know that this is correct. So here is a foretelling of the next question. When printing the placemats for the splendid 18th-April New-York tasting, a small error was observed. The error was too small, or I too lazy, for it to be repaired. So it stayed. What was the error on the placemats?

Alex K: wrong, the check boxes are for water, not bottles of port. Water check boxes were fine.

The T63 was misplaced, not in strict chronological order on the placements, as is your normal practice.

No. That was done so that the 1977s all touch, and likewise the 1966s.AHB wrote:The T63 was misplaced, not in strict chronological order on the placements, as is your normal practice.
Re: One quiz at a time
There is an extra placemat with the name "Alex" in the footer. This could either be an error in including a name from an ealier use of the same code or should have been "AHB" so that he could have used it for his Fonseca 1966.

Plainly visible on the front page, and not even in or part of the circles. Recall error described as ‟small” even if plainly visible without zoom.

Strangely, I have never seen that particular definition used before but I can see where you are coming from. Perhaps another way to define it would be "Houses purchased by Mr Wiseman Senior or to be found within a 10 mile radius of Cambridge University".jdaw1 wrote:A house I tasted before I reached the age of 22.DRT wrote:Define "classic".jdaw1 wrote:is RO really a classic house?)
I think the real answer is yes, it is a classic house, being one of the oldest, largest and most famous houses in all of Portingdom. They just aren't up there with the big boys when it comes to VP which is probably why they flew below the Wiseman radar for so long.

Classic, perhaps yes, but not classic.
