Taylor’s Very Very Old Tawny, King Charles III Coronation Edition. Bottled 2023. Warm orange and and honey on the nose, beautifully perfumed. The palate is astonishing — there are tannins, coffee, jellied fruits and much more. Nice acidity and tannins frame the wine; lighter in texture than many of the Single Harvest Tawnies at this tasting, less intense but with a balance and elegance which more than compensates. The wine feels like the balance was achieved with only the tiniest amount of intensity given up to achieve the lovely elegance. Tasty, delicious and a unique wine. 94/100. Tasted 16-May-2024.

Taylor VVO Tawny Port Coronation Edition. Med dark tawny, some mahogany. Light vinagrinho, tangerine, and light caramel on the nose. Big and powerful wine, but also creamier than the PJE. If I had to guess, also both more sugar and more acidity. A stunning Tawny Port. 96 points. Tied for 2nd on the night for me with the 1970 and behind the 1961.
