Bottled 2020. Warm marmalade on the nose, with btter-sweet citrus fruit. A delightful intensity of flavour on the palate. A rich set of flavours backed by generous lemon acidity. There is considerable sugar on the palate, but this is nicely balanced by the acidity. The wine delivers a long lemon finish. This is a big and powerful wine, very persistent and very impressive. 92/100. Tasted 16-May-2024.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

1970 TSHT. Med dark tawny, mahogany, some brown. Nose is primarily dried citrus fruits and vinagrinho. Round and mouth-filling, with a somewhat dry finish. Intense due to the simultaneous high levels of sugar and acidity. Superb overall, with a persistent, long finish. 96 points. (Tied for 2nd on the night for me with the VVO Coronation Port, and behind the 1961 TSHT.)

I really liked the intensity of this. A big powerful wine with very good marmalade notes.

50% opacity, dark brown, yellow rim. Macademia and walnut nose. Huge saliva-inducing citrus burst on entry, walnuts.
