1982 Churchill

Post by nac »

Part of Churchill vertical tasting @ B&F, Tuesday 1st March 2022.

One of two bottles purchased from Ancient & Modern Wines a few days before the tasting.

Level was base of neck. Had a thin wax capsule. Double decanted 24 hours before the tasting. Cork came out more or less in one piece. Clearly labelled as "Churchill 1982".

Red berries on the nose. Punchy liquorice followed by heather honey and redcurrants. Mint. The honey follows through into the long finish. V good.

2nd place on the night for me.

Attractive glossy red. Watery rim.

Spicy and herbaceous nose.

Quite sweet, with a cherry note. Lovely mouthfeel.

30% opacity, mature red, faint at rim. Soft with lovely strawberry, some slight alcohol heat.
