Part of Churchill vertical tasting @ B&F, Tuesday 1st March 2022.

One of six different bottles supplied for the tasting by the Churchill Grahams. Many thanks to Johnny & Jamie.

Bottle looked in perfect condition, but only arrived the morning before the tasting so wasn't able to settle before being decanted (approx 24 hours before tasting).

When extracted the cork wasn't in great condition, but clearly didn't mention "FOJO" (unlike the 86 and 89 corks), and almost certainly said "1982".

Unlike the bottle of 1982 opened for the same tasting this didn't have a wax capsule and the bottle was a slightly different shape.

At the tasting the winemaker (Johnny Graham) was certain that this was the 84, and that the cork was probably just left over from the 82s.

Similar to the 82, but less refined. Red berries and a touch of eucalyptus, some orange citrus acidity. Slightly unbalanced for my tastes but still enjoyable. Nice.

A decent paling red. Orange rim. Some sediment.

Not much going on on the nose. A touch of ginger.

Attractive spicy wine on the palate, increasingly rich and full as time went on.

25% opacity, light brown-red. Red fruits, a bit tarty on the nose. Soft, chewy strawberry.
