35% opacity, brown-orange. Nose has almond and cranberry. Lovely soft silky entry, dried cranberries, soft caramels, gentle heat on the finish. Very pleasant.

Pale rim, but port in good heart. Quite dry. Big rich chocolatey palate with prunes. Splendid, but faded later.

1945 Fonseca, mature burnt ochre colour. A little closed on the nose but some work coaxes out a little redcurrant. Nice presence on the palate with a little gentle jellied red fruit. Mature, with some very attractive baking spice in the fruit. The finish is elegant, lingering and just full of spice. Lovely wine. 94/100.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
